Hyderabad : The first ever Photonics valley in the world will be coming-up in Telangana State shortly. Towards this a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Sri. Harpreet Singh, Secretary Information Technology Government of Telangana and Dr. Birendra Raj Dutt CEO & CTO M/s PhotonIC Corporation, Los Angeles, California, United States of America. The MoU was signed in the presence of Honorable Chief Minister Sri. K. Chandrashekar Rao and IT& Panchayat Raj Minister Sri. KT Rama Rao in the CM’s Camp Office this morning.PhotonIC is a company having its registered office in Los Angeles.
The PhotonIC International Private Limited, Singapore is a Technology Company and Sister Company of PhotonIC Corporation that has evolved an expertise in photonics. The Company is executing various projects for United States military including Defense Advanced Research Projects and Naval Air Systems Command. The Company has evolved state of the Art Technology which encompasses development and operation of design, modeling and testing capabilities in support of standard and novel processing technology for commercial prototyping of photonic integrated circuits and related devices.The Telangana State Government is committed to developing the State by harnessing the benefits of technology.

The industrial policy envisages transforming the state as a destination for global technological discourses. As part of this the Government is facilitating a world class ecosystem to promote the Paradigm of Photonics, an alternative computing paradigm capable of transforming present day chip technology.Both, the Government of Telangana and PhotonIC agreed to collaborate in setting-up an ecosystem to facilitate the institutionalization of all processes and concepts related to photonics.

They have also agreed to evolve, test and produce the next generation chips and products by using the technology of Silicon Photonics and compound semi-conductor photonics. Both of them also agreed to work in tandem in evolving a strategy to promote photonics in Hyderabad.The MoU will be followed by a more detailed agreement specifying the roles and responsibilities for both within 90 days of completion of feasibility report to be prepared by PhotonIC Corporation.Besides IT & Panchayat Raj Minister, Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma, Dr. V. K. Saraswath, Member of NITI Ayog, Government of India and Principal Secretary to CM S. Narasing Rao are present when the MoU was signed.
